Community Participation in Barsemoi

The Plus One Tree Initiative, in partnership with Seed Balls Kenya, distributed 20,000 seed balls to support restoration efforts in Barsemoi area in Baringo Kenya. The initiative engaged the communities living in the area in education, awareness, tree planting, and seed ball scattering, targeting highly degraded areas.

In collaboration with GEO-LDN, the community was educated on the use of earth observation technologies for identifying and monitoring land degradation. 10,000 seed balls were scattered on eroded grounds, alongside the planting of indigenous and fruit trees compatible with the environment. Through awareness sessions, the community learned sustainable restoration and soil management practices. Initially unfamiliar with the seed ball concept, they embraced it enthusiastically, showcasing their dedication to restoring their land.
